I have always thought my Wildcat needed a front sway bar for the type of terrain I do and my style of driving. I have never been a fan of the wobbly feeling of my cat when cornering hard, especially at high speeds and drifting. I wasn't willing to give up suspension travel or ground clearance to fix the issue ether. I have had Pace Offroads stiffest sway bar for the rear installed for a while now and it was a vast improvement over stock, however my cat still felt like a three-wheeler going into a hard turn. The front a-arms being mounted so close together on the frame, while good for suspension travel, doesn't give much side support. I was browsing the internet and came across this front sway bar kit for the XP 1000 by Shock Therapy.
I liked the look of it and it was one of the most compact sway bars I have seen, which would be perfect for the Wildcat, so I ordered the kit. I decided to mount it right behind the front diff on the lower frame rails. I have an XP 900 front diff so I'm not sure this location would work for a stocker. I made some mounting plates from 1/4" plate, threaded the holes and welded them in place.
I shortened the links by about an inch and after testing a few different settings I decided my base setup would use the middle hole on the sway bar and have the mounts on the a-arms at 7.5" from the edge of the dust cap as shown here:
This setup was a good balance front to rear. The performance was incredible!!! Much more predictable and confidence inspiring!! I was mostly looking for an improvement in high speed situations but I was very surprised by the improvement in slower speed turns. I was soon attacking tight turns much more aggressively than I ever could have before. If I went too fast and blew over the ruts I could just drift it effortlessly with no worries whatsoever. On the stiffer setting I could drift over ruts and rocks with one hand on the wheel. There was some slight front end push with that setting however so I went back to the middle setting for desert conditions. This is the first time I have been happy with how my cat handles turns!!!
