Yep, I watched the livestream. As irritated as I am about "losing" the Arctic Cat name for the dirt line, Spring 2018 for the XX is more disappointed. BUT, if they get it right, then that will make more people happy I guess.
Certainly would rather have it right but slow to market than have issues.

I don't see it as a "win", anyway they spin it. And I'm not over here gloating either, because of what I have. Man, I want them to succeed, but it's like 1 step forward, 2 miles back! Losing the AC name is a mistake, IMO. I hope it works out, I really do.

If you buy into the reason they changed the name I guess it makes sense. For me its hard to fathom but I live in the great white North where we live in igloos and there is snow on the ground year around. For those outside of our climate Arctic Cat has only been a thing since the 90's and very limited at that. I could certainly see Textron Off Road building off of the brand awareness. Glad they are keeping the monikers like Wildcat and Prowler however. That would have been a tragedy, especially Wildcat. If you think about it, when people talk about buying many of these recreational vehicles they say stuff like I am going to buy a Razr or a X3 or whatever. The official brand is hardly referenced and I guess that is what their market studies showed them.
I have been an AC fan since I was 2 (kitty cat) riding sleds. Its a hard thing to swallow and I am sure the proud folks in TRF are not overly impressed.
It was pretty cool when the VP called out PJ on the livestream. He is a Snowmobile World Champion and his family owns Country Cat just down the road from me.

Came out today that the Arctic Cat name will only be on the sleds, not the SXSs. They will be called Textron Offroad. I just think that is a major mistake. The XX will not be available until Spring '18. Horsepower claimed to be 125, suspension claimed to be 17.5.

Very true, I don't think I've ever said Can Am, just X3.

The name change could be for the best too, AC was starting to get a bad rap with the everlasting release delays and the problems associated with some of the previous models. Now they have the $$ to make it happen and resources of the rest of the company behind them.

    Edit:

Heck they might even do an off road division R&D center someplace that has dry dirt

And you all said my "reading between the lines" skills were off when I called it after taking that survey. I hate that I was right...

How often do you get to quote yourself...

    From my thread-

"So I don't normally do online surveys, but I figured what the heck, I might learn something about what Textron is doing with respect to Arctic Cat. I wont go into great detail, but I do not believe that there will be a Arctic Cat Wildcat XX, and if there is it will not be coming out in August, and it will not be called a Wildcat. Reading between the lines in the survey, I suspect Arctic will be completely absorbed into Textron with the exception of the sleds.

Guess we will see how well I read between the lines come late summer..."

I didn't think you were wrong, but I hate saying you're right to Brian! You, it's doubly hard to do, LOL! But you were right! Well, half right. I believe they are keeping Wildcat, just not AC.

Wired - We're all cool kids, LOL! I can see what everybody writes. It was a live stream, I didn't record it or anything. What is being said here was about it.
