Bought a new TIG welder to learn to weld aluminum since it's too cold too do anything. Decided to build a trunk, more practice on inside corners required. Added yet another winch mount for a total of four now!!! Absolutely no zooming in on those welds. They were done with my left hand while trying to squeeze into some ridiculous position standing on one foot so I could use the pedal and I forgot to turn down the amperage.

Thanks. I got a long way to go before I would do anything structural out of aluminum.

I hear you on that. I have some rudimentary machining tools and skills. If it won't kill me if it fails, I'll make it. Otherwise, I'll leave it to a pro!

It was so nice out today. Spent about 4 hours on the southeast side of Sand Hollow. I think it's my 4th or 5th ride since the maintenance and upgrades I did this winter. Turned 4000 miles today and the machine runs better and tighter than when it was new. I love my wildcat!

I'm a former racer and inveterate tinkerer, so when the heads came off to fix my Glamis problems, I found it impossible to just clean 'em up and reinstall.

There are ledges at the edge of the combustion chamber to the outside of the intake and exhaust valves. I believe those ledges add turbulence that reduce flow, so they had to go.

The plunge cuts into the bowls behind the valves looked like they could benefit from being blended into the ports:

So after spending some quality time with my flex-drive Dremel and die-grinder, I'm ready to start assembly. I also realized that I miss this part of racing. I was always about 70% focused on building a better mousetrap and only 30% on driving.

How much did you reduce your compression ratio? Did you match the volume on both heads?

My ballpark math says I increased the combustion chamber volume by about 45 cubic mm, or .045 cc. I think the combustion chamber is around 41cc based on displacement and 11.5:1 cr. If the cr is 12:1 (I've not seen anything conclusive), the chambers are a bit smaller and the CR change would be a little more, but I think I've dropped it from 11.5:1 to 11.488:1.

Speedwerx says their really big bore kit (1100cc) is useless without head work and their cams - the stock setup doesn't breathe well enough to support the increase in displacement. That made me more than willing to trade an anticipated improvement in flow for a decrease in static CR. If you can't fill the cylinders, the running CR doesn't equal the static CR.

If I've crunched the number incorrectly, please let me know.

Given the small change, I'm comfortable that the two heads pass my eyeball test as far as symmetry.

Nothing like regretting leaving the cat out all year. This year It will be well taken care of. Starting to think the EPS got wrecked. Can’t turn the steering wheel until I have it in gear
