    First real XX ride

Finally got my xx out for a real ride...i was left rather disappointed...the slower speed jerkiness..going down the trail it wanted to swap left to right alot it was annoying i thought these things were supposed to be so stable? And after stopping and starting again the noise from the clutch sheaves drove me crazy! I rode behind a friend with a X3 and he experienced no swapping back and forth or anything like that...regretting my purchase right now.

    Wow.
Just did 50 full tilt miles in the dez and I loved it.
High speed...all 2wd. After I got the shocks and tire pressures right...permagrin.

That was my first real full tilt ride without the wife and only 3 cars total- all that were fast.
    No jacking around.

Check your ride height (shock preload) and tire pressure for starters, then check the front alignment. Mine was a little uneasy at first, once I got suspension dialed in its super stable on high speed dez runs now.

What do you mean by swapping left to right? Like getting squirrely or fishtailing? I haven't experienced that, unless I was trying.

I avoid the slow speed jerks by learning the sweet spot with the throttle. It takes a certain amount of throttle to engage the clutch, then you can't baby it (or it gets jerky - belt slip) you've got to push a little more thru that til it smooths out. I believe this gets a little better over time.

The clutch pops on mine when it re-engages and it drives me nuts! Like when freewheeling down a hill and I hit the gas at the bottom, I get a pop (bang) when the clutch engages again. It does it from a stop too, but not as bad because I can ease into it. I don't like it and I'm wondering if the stiffer black/purple secondary spring will help with that.. Anyone?

Ya mine doesn’t do that at all the swapping off and right deal you having. Sounds like to me your machine isn’t set up right. The Alignment must be off if you have a tire with low pressure. The jerkiness is just how they are at slow speeds. It’s to do how there clutched from the factory. A speed or alba clutch kit would take care to f that and make the machine accelerate faster. Never a bad thing. Lol

i have the ride height setup for 14.5 in the front and 14 in the rear...not sure about alignment but the tire pressures were good...the front tires do look like the tops are closer together than the bottoms like negative camber? how should it be setup?

The back will step out in 2wd at times for me...I like it though in 2wd. Wearing out the tires quick also.
Not sure how fast you were going...we were 30-70 most of the time.

My green/ black rig has the infamous herky jerky starts. But a little quieter then my xx ltd that starts out real smooth, but more clutch noise. As far as the left right darting, I haven’t experienced that. I know what your saying, like a sled. Like everyone else said, check your tires and set up.

I just installed the Venom secondary spring from MLS. It seems to help with the jerkiness when easing on the throttle. I'm getting mine out for the first time for 3 days of riding this weekend. Can't wait.

    Yeah, unfortunately.

I feel like that scene in Wedding Crashers when they were sitting on the steps of that monument
