Left rear outer cv boot was loose after last ride, I pulled it into the garage to check it out and after backing up, I put it in h and just after the clutch engaged I heard a loud clank from the rear. Was able to duplicate it a couple times backing up and going forward. Got out to find grease splattered all over the garage and now the inner boot has slipped off, the clamp is spinning freely on the axle. I don’t drive it hard at all and don’t recall a point where I can imagine it being anything other than wear and tear. So my question is, since it clanked, is it safe to assume I should just replace the whole axle? Is this a common issue? And does it matter if I buy oem? Is there a slightly better option that won’t triple the cost? I know ya get what ya pay for but it’s mostly street driven and never leaves the ground.
