I know there are a lot of people that would say ‘Never paint your plastics!’ and ‘You’re gonna regret that paint job the first time you wash it or bump it!’ but I couldn’t be happier with how my little desert storm idea turned out.

If anyone is thinking of going paint instead of a wrap I’m telling you it can be done and on the cheap.

I’ve had this on some super sketchy 50”trails here in Idaho where we were rock sliding and bushwhacking thick overgrowth and the paint held up…literally not one chip, scratch or sign of the red underneath anywhere.

BEFORE:
Tire Wheel Vehicle Automotive tire Car

Tire Wheel Car Cloud Vehicle

AFTER (multiple high pressure washes and a handful of gnarly rides):

Anyway, just thought I’d share for anyone considering some cosmetic modifications to their trail.

Looks good, what kind of paint?
I did a few coats of Krylon Fusion shake cans and a couple coats of clear Plaxidip.

I might do my quad next and try a different prep of the plastics first to see how it holds up compared to what I did here, which was just to clean it real good. We’ll see…
