Happy to help. I haven't split open an engine case yet, but I'm pretty comfortable on the rest of a 1000 / X.
I finally got around to trying the compression test today. I pulled both plugs and installed a new compression tester from NAPA in the rear cylinder. It reads 0 PSI when cranking with the accelerator pedal to the floor. I must be missing something obvious. Any thoughts? Thank youSo it fires enough to smell, but won't run... That is confusing.
Back to the basics (fuel, air, spark), plus a compression test. Fuel pressure should be 40-ish static (engine not running). Compression will be low since you can't warm the engine, but all you are really looking for is that it has some and that the two cylinders are close.
