My son was cleaning the Cat to load it and take it to the dealer for his initial breakin service and found the drivers side fan unplugged.

Press and hold both buttons on your guages, keep holding them until it goes into Diagnostics mode. Then you can scroll through lots of neat info, one of them is COOL and it shows the engine temp.

Besides when it gets hot you will know, a temp indicator will show up along with a check engine symbol and limp mode if it gets too hot.

I did, I ran around for a while with it like that a few times to get a feel for "normal" temps. It will go away when you kill it though, but you can bring it back the same way.
