Are the factory wiring harnesses for switches supposed to be back lit?

How do I add back lighting to the factory wiring then?

The switches don't light up 🤷‍♂️

Hi chad I added switches to the factory harness with no additional wiring for backlighting. I bought a 6 pack of cheap 5 prong Nilitght switches on amazon 20.69

I have a 2022 Wildcat XX and EVERY SWITCH I plugged into the factory wiring is NOT BACKLIT. Matter of fact there is only 3 slots out of 6 with wires. 🤷‍♂️

I did have to drop the switch one row on the factory plug to make all the wires mate.

If it has 3 pins it should operate a swith light between terminal 3 and terminal 7. Google "Carling V1D1 pinout" for a pin diagram. Terminal 2 should be positive in. Terminal 3 should be switched positive out and Terminal 7 is ground. The switch should have the lamp or LED between Terminal 3 and 7 to be on when the switch is on. Polarity must be correct for the LED to work.

Yeah, the only time the backlit LED works is when the switch is pushed on.
Nothing works with the headlight switch,

I misunderstood the original question. I thought you wanted a light on switch to indicate the accessory was on.
If you are using the factory accessory wiring pin 2 will be switched power that will be on when the unit is running whether the headlight switch is on or off. If you want a pilot (backlite) you will need a switch with two lamps. The pilot (backlite) will be between pin 2 and pin 7. The accessory "on" indicator lamp will be between pin 3 and pin 7. They are readily available but not from AC.

This is what I'm looking for..
I just want the switches to light up when the headlight switch is ON and when the accessory is used, yes.

The bottom line is that it's not going to be easy to get backlite and a switch on indicator.

I posted a thorough reply including several links. It was pending when I left the page on June 24. I'm guessing it was never approved. In a nutshell I cannot locate a switch that has a lamp between terminal 2 and 7 which would come on when the key was on and a second lamp between terminal 3 and 7 that would be on when the switch is on.
The factory block only has 3 wires. The default pilot light on most switches runs between +8 and -7 ground. The lamp when the switch is on is between +3 and -7. I had Delphi female plugs and installed a female plug on terminal 8 and ran the wire to the "A" block using an SAE connector. I used a Carling V1D2 Contura switch from DigiKey.
The easier solution would be to abandon the factory plug and purchase rocker switches with labels and jumpers from Amazon like Jason originally posted. Pull up to 20 amps from the switched "A" circuit under the dash. I have a video on YouTube called Wildcat XX Accessory Wiring that explains the basic layout and has a link to the wiring diagrams.
