this is my first post. I have purchased a 2013 wildcat 4 1000 with 1200 km on it. Really clean machine. I’ve put 50 km on it and found the silicone gasket on the bottom end leaks oil in a few spots. Oil level only drops half way down the sip stick then stops leaking. Will it be ok to use like this until I can pull the motor and repair the leaks? This is my first side by side.
There was no sign of the leak when I bought it as it was cleaned really well…..😤

hi- welcome to the club- well so the seller did a good job !?? ;_))

so there where some years with bad casting and a lot oil leaks - if you SEARCH in the forum you will find many posts about!!
1st if its not too cold? i would put in thicker oil 10- 40 summer 20-60
there where some guys havin success with sealin it from outside-
as good as possible- and often look for oillevel!
cause splittin the case to reseal new is not a fast job !? ;- ()

Thanks for the info. I was thinking of maybe trying to seal it from the out side. What were they using?

motorcycle rtv sealants- ive used red dirko and ducati threebond- clean as good as possible!!
ive sealed my old xr 500 from outside this worked for 2 years ;-)

well after almost 200 miles on my cat since I worked on it in January....the gray RTV that I put over the problem areas at the case halves are doing well. No Oil on the floor... I had great access with the seats out and starter removed to hit that area and clean it REALLY well. The right rear of the engine I did the same. So far so good. I guess I hope it holds up for a yr or two and then If I have to ......I will repeat until its time for that rebuild.
