i joined this forum to look around abit to see whats up with the new wildcat. but most of what i`ve read so far has just been people bashing the shit out of each other over their opinions. i currently own a 2010 prowler xtz 1000 and a 2012 rxr xp. so i feel i can speak abit about both sides of the fence unbiasly. my riding buddy has an 09 xtz as well as another with an 011 xtz. i put 1806 miles on my prowler prior to it splitting the eng case open and spilling out the oil and transfer gear parts. we were in my buddys 09 w 500 miles on it for tranny issues, and again at another 500 for the same thing. the 010s had a diff lower eng with some updated tranny parts but a weaker case. while mine was at the dealer getting a new eng,so was my buddys 011 and 4 others, all for the exact same issue. the eng is tough,i ran mine on the rev limiter for 6hrs will no oil in it to finish it off. the trannys and cases are junk! when they all went down i got online and looked around at all of to see what was up with cats, pol can-ams. yes they all break, but look what we expect from them. its a matter of what failures can you live with. the xp has a chain in the trans for reverse and if you get stupid with the loud pedal it`l break, but it will still drive and contain the oil! i loved my prowler even with the rediculous amount of noise it makes. i was seriously concidering a new WC until they desided to use this eng,no thanx. all the folks wanting to turbo them or whatever are in for a bunch of broken stuff, they will not hold up. the susp is awesum, the power plant,or the trans for sure is not.

Do you think there is any Possibility that AC might have fixed this problem or are they still build the same old junk?.....

I remember hearing this same kind of stuff on the RZR forum.

I drove my RZRs 5500 miles with no problems.

AC let people bash the the crap out of a bunch WCs and I never of heared of any problem like this so I'm not too worried....

Great clip. This is what I have been trying t say and I didnt word it as well as you. I also got bashed by some of the members that must own stock in AC. I would like to see a Wildcat with the M1 engine and a std shift trans. The problem with what they have now is if it bearly holds together stock it sure wont after mods..

The engine case has been updated since the original 2011.
I am one that has split the case.

It drove out of some pretty nasty stuff with no oil in the engine.
Several hrs. of 4low to get out of the hunting grounds.
Engine seized 2x's let cool and went again, drove off the trailer and into the dealer shop with a split in the bottom of the engine case.

New case has a ton of additional webbing to support the through shaft bearing support.
Not enough time on the machine since the new motor to tell if it's fixed or not.

I have owned all makes and am a member of pretty much all the forums for each make. I have to say, the Commander people are the most out of touch with reality so far. They absolutely without a doubt, cannot accept that the Commander is not the best machine. Obviously I am talking in general, there are a lot of good people on each forum. I think so far the WC folks are good people as well. Everyone just wants to get a good product when they pay so much money, that's all. Personally, I would love to get a ride together with a bunch of makes from all the forums and have a good time thrashing our rigs and throwing back some cold ones.

Calling all dealers on this forum this guy says that of 4 ACs he knows of all have grenaded (plus other reports posted here) is this really that common?

The people need to know we still have time to eat it on our 500 bucks.

I had an 08 Rzr w/20 hrs on it when the tranny grenaded. Literally blew a hole out the side of it, and locked the whole thing up. Dealer fixed it under warranty but it took 4 mos to fix and I finally had to finish putting it back together just so I could get it back. I ran it about 2 yrs b4 I finally sold it.

I also had a 07 Can Am 800 Outlander w/about 150 miles on it when the water pump quit and over heated the quad. Again fixed under warranty but still I had to do w/out it for about 3 weeks. After about 300 miles later, the water pump went out again. I sold the quad after that.

I now have a RZR 4, and w/only about 100 miles on it the front diff blew up and locked up. Popo said it was my fault, and so I had to eat that. I still have the 4, and it still has front diff probs, it will not roll in 2wd. It locks up and starts pushing front diff fluid out. If I put it in 4wd, everything works perfect. So ive learned to deal w/it.

Moral of the story, theres no perfect atv manufacturer out their. They all have their probs, but you just have to learn to deal w/em. We all know that when we buy these high dollar machines, you have to be able to afford to work on em too.

Teamarctic is 100% correct.
Read my post there is a new updated case.

head over to prowler talk . com if you ? teamarctic his as well as mine and several others are very well documented.

Teamarctic is very a knowladgable resource regardless of what any dealer comes here to say or defend.

Teamarctic bleeds green it took alot to get him from arctic cat and our kick ass dealer to switch to polaris and their shop!

One huge difference, though, is those particular "facts" originated inside Arctic Cat, not from some blowhard on a forum. I personally believe that those reflect something pretty close to their original intent, and the "legal department" backed them down. Having personally met and spoke with Mark Esala, the engineer in those videos, I can tell you he was not about being "close enough"! He bleeds green and wanted to blow the XP right out of the water. I have not heard this outright, but piecing together tidbits from various conversations with A-C personnel, that is my humble opinion.

yes it common.its even happening to the guys with the 1000 quads which are less then half the weight. there just is not enuf support for the transfer gear bearings. i`ve owned 2 prowlers and 4 quads. this has been a weak area even back when the suzuki engines were used. my buddys and i used to blow these up all the time mudding.

thanx john, how you been? now dont get me wrong,i love my prowler its storage space and its ability to go any dam place i wanna go. and ive been around all these toys long enuf to know that they all have their problems, they all break and need repairs and maint. it all boils down to what failures a person is willing to live with, and/or have to pay to fix when warr runs out. the bottom of the eng splitting open, broken transfer gears and the oil pouring out is not one for me. my girl and i go out every other weekend for "adventure picnics" we cant be be 20-50 miles from the truck when it blows w/o any sort of warning. the replacement eng was covered by ext warr but was $4000. WTF!?! i can buy a crate big block for that kind of dough. if AC would have put the z1 sled eng with seperate trans like pol/can-am does i would have bought 2 amd modded the piss out of one of em,provided they upgraded the diffs to handle the 170 hp stock!!! and there wouldnt be any of this who`s faster business would there:cool:

OK.

If AC can't build a stronger case, I'll just take it to my favorite fab shop and say, "Please beef this up. Twice as strong sounds good." A few bucks later, I'm walking out the door with about twice as much material on the weak spot.

I've had him repair my badly cracked bellhousing, and after a little smoothing, you couldn't tell it was ever repaired.

This is the sport of offroading. Somebody breaks, we all band together (regardless of brand), hookup the tow strap, whip out the digital cameras, take some pics for future reference (Bwhahah!!) and we tow each other back. We fix them over a few beers, and we're back out there tearing them up again!

I've been at both ends of the tow rope, have been helped and helped fix some nice rails way out in the middle of BFE (5 mi from the nearest road) having to tow an equally heavy rail through some really big dunes and we end up with some really great memories and some great stories to tell over the campfire!

It sure beats watching some stoopid "reality show" that's completely scripted and about as spontaneous as wrestling. I'd rather be digging a guy with a Rzr XP out of a deep bowl at midnight than watching reality TV.

While I'm on my mini soapbox, may I remind us all that even though we may say stuff like "Cowmander" and "Pooplaris" and we use "Rhino" as a reference for "slow", we are all saying it with a smile on our faces and a cold beer for anyone driving ANY brand of offroad vehicle (including Joyner) and I've got an empty chair and a warm spot next to the fire for anyone traveling by who wants to visit, not to mention 10 HID lights on the rail, GPS and tow straps, tools and parts to go rescue anyone stranded at night - we don't come back till everyone comes back!

In conclusion, I'd like to point out that the real enemy is THAT GUY - pointing at the pasty faced attorney thug posing as a well meaning environmentalist, filing lawsuits, getting riding areas closed, making millions off of charging exorbitant legal fees, using bogus biological reports to start and perpetuate lawsuits whose only real purpose is to line their pockets with millions of dollars at taxpayer expense and close beautiful natural resources from anyone ever getting to enjoy them!

We all stand together, side by side, (literally) as rock crawlers, mud boggers, trail riders, racers, duners, canyon explorers, geo cachers, and retired nature lovers to stop these subhuman, self centered, nature hating, greedy Socialist bastards (I say this in the very worst possible way) and kick them right where the family jewels would be, if they had any!!

/stepping off soapbox and shuffling off to go call his AC dealer for the 175th time./

Sorry, I get on a rant and who knows where it ends up! LOL
