Arctic Cat Expands the Wildcat PerformanceClass with New Sport Models

Arctic Cat expands its popularWildcat series for 2015 with theWildcat Sport, a stunning new two-seat performance ROV that slots in-between the original Wild-cat and the Wildcat Trail.

The Wildcat Sport’s chassis is110.5 in. long and 60 in. wide, com-pared to the Trail’s 110.5 x 50-in.chassis and the original Wildcat’s128 x 64-in. frame. The rider and passenger positions are set a full 3in. lower than competitive models to produce a low center-of-gravity,leaving the occupants less affect-ed by vehicle movements while optimizing vehicle handling.

The performance engineered chassis is complemented by its bump-swallowing double A-Arm front and swaybar-equipped rear suspensions with 12.2 in. and12.6 in. of travel, plus 13 in. of rock-clearing ground clearance.Add 26-in. Carlisle Trail Pro tires to the mix and the result is driving confidence and control in even the gnarliest terrain.

Powering the new Wildcat Sport is a 60-plus-hp, liquid-cooled700 parallel twin engine that was designed by Arctic Cat (and that debuted on the Wildcat Trail).Featuring a closed-loop EFI system and four valves per cylinder, this powerful engine earns its class-leading distinction for sporty fun, smoothness and durability.

TEAM Rapid Response clutches maximize that horsepower and performance, while electronic-selectable 2WD/4WD (with front differential lock) provide the exact riding performance that riders want the moment they ask for it.And dual-piston caliper hydraulic brakes offer enhanced braking performance.

Occupant comfort is a hallmark of Arctic Cat Wildcats, and theSport follows suit with high-back bucket seats (with upper body supports); fully-variable tilt steer-ing; a sport shifter on the center console; easy-access hinged doors with automotive-style handles and latches; passenger hand-hold;3-point seat belts; digital gauge; and premium halogen lights withLED taillights.

Built for sporting fun, theWildcat Sport also delivers useful features like a 300-lb. payload in the rear cargo bed, a 2-in. receiver and 1500-lb. towing capacity.

The base model Sport comes with steel 12-in. wheels, JRi ECX-1shocks and the option of LimeGreen or Red.

The Sport XT offers cast-aluminum wheels, automotive-style paint and color-matched suspension arms. It’s available in ViperBlue or Vibrant Red Metallic.

why would someone want a sport?
i could see the trail for people that ride trails with narrow width requirement
To me it seems like a waist of money to build/develop the sport model.
I guess there is some potential because it is cheaper then the full size wildcat.
I was hoping to see a new drive train in the wildcat. not a hopped up trail model.

When you look at this picture, the tires don't look like they are that much wider than the body at the doors or even the roll cage...

Saw a guy this weekend with sport fenders on the trail. They are much wider. Remember this pic shows them on the sport. On the trail they look like a lot more fender and mud coverage.

Prediction...we have the 2015 12hrs of LaTuque Stock class Winner

Guys,

I predict that the Sport Limited trail will be the 2015 12hrs of LaTuque stock class 600 - 850cc race winner!
Looking forward to trying this smaller version of the Wildcat X Limited and taking...putting it to the competition!

Can't wait for the first trials...

Im liking the look of this thing. My girl was considering a rzr 900 S but is now considering this. Thank god, I didn't want to work on a junky Polaris.

Mike, I think they really did their market assessment. The Trail is great for the guys who have the 50" gates on their favorite trails and the Wildcat 1000 is a great desert blaster and good on Jeep trails. But I think there is a really big segment of folks who have tight woods trails where this machine will really fit the bill. We took a guy with a new trail on a gnarly ride lately and it worked really well but I could see that a little wider stance would make it a killer trail machine. The 30% lighter weight (than a big Wildcat) makes it great at crawling up stuff. The more responsive shocks could make it more comfortable over all on the rocky trails.

Consider the marketing aspect of graduated pricing so they get the whole range of buyers at several price points... AND... AC can keep moving the top end of the price range up just like PoPo has already done.

Having all these models with the parallel twin and the team transmission really lays some good ground work (get the bugs out) for bringing along the completely new 1000 in midyear. Way cool if AC follows just some of the lead that Pace is providing.

Not everybody rides in the desert and sorry but the 5 link sucks for trail riding unless you like dragging the trailing arm on everything and getting hung up on big rocks. A arms are the way to go, clearly this sport isn't aimed at the desert group but more at the trails group. Guess you boys need to get in the rocks and mud alittle so youd understand. The front a arms are even clearance for extra room underneath.

All I do is woods ride. Rollin through very rocky area here. I also go over logs a lot. Went through an area where I cut up a tree but had not cleared it. Sorry to be off the main topic.

Anyone that wants to experience what a wildcat will do in the woods is welcome to come to my property in KY and I will show them, just have to sign a waiver

Even for the tails around here that includes everything but sand and larger boulders the Sport would work better. the 1000 is a big boy to be getting around trees and the smaller trails. It all in what you need. Don't love it leave it son!
