That sucks. Even if you add a better upper cage the cast iron is still on the bottoms

I'd like to see pics of this. After removing my cage and reinstalling it, I'm kinda surprised how thin the bolts are. I don't think they're grade 8 either. I'm thinking maybe they snapped the bolts off, the mounts are pretty thick.

In addition to adding 2 more bars to the roof, I'm going to be swapping out all of the bolts with thicker ones in grade 8.

You might want to rethink changing to a grade 8 bolt. A grade 8 bolts strength is in its ability to resist stretch when put under tension, not in its ability to resist shear from side forces. A grade 5 bolt will actualy do better in shear because it is softer and has the ability to stretch and bend pretty far out of shape before breaking. Grade 8's will shear rather easily because of thier hardness. While going up a fastener size within reason might be a good idea I think a quality grade 5 or metric equivilent is probably better. The cage will be subjected to shear since the mounts have 2 opposing flats. After looking at the mounts I am sure they are not cast iron. The welds are definately MIG and appear to be hand welded.

The wildcat doesnt have mounts like the rzr. It bolts directly to the frame. Without seeing actual pictures of the cage its all heresay as to what really happened. Hope they get through ok.

Why does everyone just start blaming AC without knowing anything. We don't know anything about this crash. Maybe the guy would have died in any other UTV and we should be praising AC for building such a strong cage. I feel this is a big reason AC didn't make the Wildcat even faster stock, people are going to start getting seriously hurt more the faster these machines get. I am just sick of people dogging AC without knowing the facts. I have seen cars split in half in certain accidents, if the crashes are severe enough something is going to break.

I'll bet the old boy was driveing out side his abillity, You boys keep driveing this machine like 50 thousand + MACHINE AND IT WOUN'T BE LONG BEFORE THE LAWER'S AND BIG BROTHER STEP IN. And if you can't do that, go get your self the 50 plus machine that is built for the stupid shit your doing. NOBODY CAN BUILD A MACHINE THAT SOME OF YOU STUPID SHITS CAN'T DESTROY.

Ain't that the truth!

We used to have a saying in the office where we designed new equipment for the Navy. "Build it stronger than a bowling ball."

"You can put a sailor in a windowless, doorless room with 3 bowling balls. Eventually, he will break one, lose one, and knock the third one up. Because of this, we have to design everything stronger than a bowling ball."

Same thing hold trues with offroading. There's no vehicle that any company can build that some idiot somewhere can't destroy.
