Just seeing how many forum members will be attending this years SNIRT event on Tug Hill over April 16th weekend. Looks like this year will be more dirt than snow. Polaris is sponsor this year witb ATV raffle, 50/50 raffle and a couple dealerships doing raffles. This event attracts over 5000 participants each year. There is a giant poker run with roads, trails open to all off roaders and yes there is always plenty of food and drinks. Pictures shown is early morning at top of Tug Hill with windmills everywhere. There is about 10 stops with quite a few bar stops.

Steve,
I will be there! I could not get a room anywhere on the hill, so am staying at the Best Western, in Watertown. Will you be there?

#3 ·
Hey there buddy......if I have machine yes, if not then I may just drive up and hang out at Flat Rock Inn and fly my drone around taking video and pics of the madness....plus get some good video of the giant windmills.

#4 ·
Hell yea I'll be there again. We rent a huge house every year right down the road from timberview lodge

Welcome BigChief. Stop by the new members area, and start a thread so members can meet you.

Thought they were closed to ATV'rs and SxS'rs until May 1st? I'm always on lower Tug doing the Oswego trail as it's a good 100 miles you can get in before hitting upper tug and the different options up there.

Adams to Barnes is a nice area - actually the whole upper area is beautiful as well - I saw they posted all trails and even logging roads were closing today to Sleds because of no snow - so.....maybe ATV season will start early -

Is this run kid friendly?

Yes - Even if you stop at a bar, they also serve soda and really good food.
SNIRT (poker) RUN information

  • WIN! WIN! WIN! This year's grand prize is the new 2016 Sportsman 450 ATV from our very generousPOLARIS sponsor.
  • Hot Dogs, Hamburgers and a 50/50 raffle at the BC Sno-Pals groomer barn.
  • You do NOT need a LEWIS COUNTY TRAIL PERMIT for this event.
  • Participants will be given a trip stamp card and a map that shows the route and legal "open roads" to use for the event.
  • Once registered you may start from any one of the participating businesses.
  • Every participant has to go to at least 5 stops to make up a 5 card poker hand.
  • If participants want to better their odds they can go to an additional 2 stops, and when they return they can draw 7 cards and then use the best 5 cards to make a better poker hand. Riders can go to more than 7 stops during the day but we will only allow them to draw the maximum of 7 cards.

Please stay on the assigned route. Do not get off the trails or onto private property. Last year there was substantial damage to fields and the road right of ways. Do not go on snow covered trails. Many of them are off limits to ATVs/UTVs.
Do not call for 911 if you are stuck. Take responsibility for yourself. Do not get into situations where you become stuck or stranded.

  • AGE RESTRICTIONS

    • Any age can participate in the event but riders under the age of 18 must have a waiver signed by their parent or guardian.
    WHO MAY OPERATE AN ATV

    • You do not need a driver license to operate an ATV in New York State, but certain restrictions apply to operators under age 16.
    • If you are age 10 through age 15, you may operate an ATV under adult supervision.
    • If you are age 10 through age 15, you may operate an ATV without adult supervision if you have completed an ATV safety training course approved by the DMV. You should carry your course completion certificate when operating any ATV.
    • If you are under age 10, you may operate an ATV only under adult supervision.
Adult Supervision means being accompanied by a person at least 18 years of age, or a person 16 or 17 years of age who holds an ATV safety course completion certificate from an approved safety course provider.
There is an exception, children of any may operate an ATV without adult supervision on lands owned or leased by their parent or guardian.

    Snirt Run Stops
Creekside, Groomer Barn, Tuggers, Gunners Muffler shop, (McDonald Rd), Hook & Ladder, Montague Inn, Valley Snow Travelers Groomer Barn, Ridgeview, Flat Rock Inn, Timberview, Highmarket Inn, Highmarket Sports, Barrows Performance, Whiskeys Jack's

  • Just a heads up - those aren't the only prizes. Dealerships, American Legions, and other organizations have raffles at some of the locations. So dirt bikes, SxS's and ATV's could be up for raffle as well but they aren't associated with the official SNIRT/Sno Pals organization - they get permission from the local bar or establishment to raffle and give some proceeds or business of some sort to the owners of the business. They are usually like 5 dollars so I'll put 20 bucks on a particular model and compete against the other 7000+ riders up there. This is a very big money maker for the area.
All participants MUST be back to the Barnes Corners groomer barn or Timberview by 6pm to draw cards or be disqualified. No exceptions!!!

It's been so nice and to be honest it should be ok to ride - I would really keep an eye out for sled studs - especially at trail heads where guys lose them off their sled tracks -

#21 ·
Last year we signed up and we're number 3500 and people were still pouring in. Think they had 5000 something last year

#22 ·
5000 of registered folks - then add in the locals that don't register and late comers who just want to ride and not do the poker run and that number goes up significantly.

Won't have my machine here in time for event. I'll drive up for the event from the "Cuse and be hanging out at Flat Rock Inn which is right around the corner from registration area. Looks like a beautiful 65+ degree sunny day coming so I'll be there for a few hours. If you're a member here and find me up at Flat Rock Inn, I'll be handing out (for free) some my race team shirts. Seeing as there's only about 6 or 8 of you I think i have enough. heh

Weather is looking great... I'll be the guy in the enclosed Trail with the windows rolled down. Save a couple of shirts for us.

I'll be the guy with a beer in one hand and good food in the other - My designated driver is father in law so I can have fun and even drink some home made peach shine - Most likely be walking around the giant lot checking out machines and talking with everyone..if I see any Trails, Sports or full sized cats you can bet I'll stop for a chat...

What a great time SNIRT was....probably the better of 10,000 machines all over Tug Hill at each poker run stop. Went to Tuggers and had quite a few beers talking with everyone. Met Jerry from Binghamton wo has been all over the US with his 2014 Trail XT. Left his led bar on and had to get a jump on his battery when i noticed he had bis drivers seat removed so I asked what he was looking for and just proceeded to show him where battery is located (under passenger seat) and that he had a toolkit under drivers seat. He had no idea and had owned foe a couple years. Got him up and running and hopefully he will be here soon to learn everything. There was about 500 machine or more at first stop but about a few thousand at Flat Rock with free fireball shots from the waitresses.
